Departmental Profile: The Master Degree programme in the department started in July 2004. The duration of the Master’s programme is two years. First year of the Master’s programme deals with training in core courses like genetics, macromolecules, cell biology, biostatistics, molecular biology, enzymology, immunology and biophysics. In the second year students are trained in modern areas of biological sciences that include plant biotechnology, genetic engineering, environmental biotechnology, bioprocess engineering and advances in biotechnology. The final year students at the end of 4th semester undertake short term projects which expose them to the latest research and development in the field of biotechnology. The students also participate in seminars organized by the department from time to time.

ii] M.Phil   (by course work & dissertation).    Duration : Three Semesters.  No. of seats :  06

iii] Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing Management(PGDMM)  Duration : Two Semester  No. of seats :  20

iv] Ph.D. (by research work) 

Area of Ph.D. : Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genomics, Microbial Diversity, Plant Biotechnology.

Placement: 

A good number of passed out students are now employed as teachers in colleges, universities and other educational institutions. Also many of the students have found placements in industrial and service organisations with in and outside North East India.
