Departmental Profile: The Department of English which came up in 1994 offers MA, M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes of study. The updated MA syllabus which has been put into effect from 2005-06 places particular focus on courses like Contemporary Theoretical Development, New Literatures in English, World Literature in Translation, Translation Theory and English Language Teaching. The ongoing research activities in the department include, among others, researches on New Literatures written in English, Cultural Studies, Ethnic Literature and Translation Studies.

Placement

A good number of passed out students are now employed as teachers in colleges, universities and other educational institutions.
